Arts and Community in Thornbury Ltd (ACT) has been set up as an independent, not for profit organisation, solely with the purpose of developing and building a new modern arts centre in the town. The organisation is a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity.
Our vision
To build a multi-purpose arts and performance centre in the centre of Thornbury. It will serve the town and the local area, filling the arts facilities vacuum between Bristol, Cheltenham and Bath. At the heart of the building will be a well-equipped, flexible theatre. Surrounding it there will be rooms for exhibitions, workshops, dance studios, meeting rooms, a cinema and a recording studio. There will be a cafe/bar - all day and every day.
Local
community performance and fine art groups will have subsidised opportunities
to use the facilities for much of the time.
The Thornbury Arts Festival sees great advantages for the town in having
a brand new, well equipped, full sized theatre with workshops attached
and it would hope to use these facilities to mount some of the major
events in Festival weeks in the future.
Professional touring groups will visit regularly throughout the year. The venue will be a focus for the town and a centre of creativity and entertainment for the whole community, attracting an audience from all over South Gloucestershire - and beyond.
