ACTivities and Events Guide

Dan Philips and Bay Diamond as John and Ellen

The Wigan Girls!

A fantastic community play that involved hundreds of actors of all ages and many people behind the scenes. A great success!

Louis Barber

Lovers Bay Dimond as Ellen and Dan Philips (John) share a happy moment before tragedy strikes.

Programme of Events

From September 2007 we began a monthly programme of arts events. Our purpose is to bring ACT more to the knowledge of the wider community, and to raise simple amounts towards our fund-raising. Look out for information on this website as well as elsewhere especially Thornbury Magazine and The Gazette.

Louis Barber as a typical pit brat, reflects on his life in the mines.

Completing the feasibility study
This will require the employment of professionals to reckon the actual cost of building and running the performance and arts venue. We have been successful recently to gain a generous grant of £4000 towards the feasibility study from British Nuclear Group (Socio-Economic Funding) at Oldbury Power Station.

Completing the business planThis strategy is in two parts, first of all to raise sufficient funds to be able to build the performance and arts venue, and secondly to enable the venue to pay its way. This will involve devising a way to subsidise local performing and art groups, without having to charge unreasonable fees to other companies.

Developing our relations with other organisations

We already work well with Brandon Trust. The charity offers a service to adults with learning disabilities. They are particularly interested in providing opportunities for disabled people who wish to develop their interests and skills in the arts. This co-operation may become a shared partnership with the Trust.

Similarly we hope to work more closely with South Gloucestershire and Thornbury Town Councils.

Finding a suitable site for the performance and arts venue.

We are currently looking for a suitable site in the centre of the town.
